HEALTH

The Company is strongly engaged in protecting the health of workers: with periodical monitoring of workplace, Health Surveillance and with specific DPI and form workers through an educational process.There are going awareness campaigns about the health risks related to smoking and intake of alcohol and drugs. Periodically, tests are carried out in order to verify the absence of alcohol dependence and use of narcotic and psychotropic substances, respecting to Privacy Law, according to a regulation and a clear policy of zero tolerance, preventive for health and the safety of workers.

Our safety professionals constantly match and improve industry safety standards and share knowledge within our organization. We are proud of the achievements we’ve been able to reach thanks to the commitment of our employees and our investments, providing a safer work place for all. Since 2012 we have in place a safety management system according to BS OHSAS 18001, certified by RINA Services, as evidence of Officine Tecnosider safety commitment for its employees. We promote every effort, through better and more careful management of the processes, for the prevention of accidents, occupational diseases and achieving the highest standards of safety, in compliance with national and international regulation. We support education, training, and raising awareness of all staff to develop a culture and practice of behavior based on the preservation of health and personal safety.

SAFETY POLICY

Officine Tecnosider operates on the market for hot-rolled sheet for the most different applications, structural or otherwise, with a range of size and quality in accordance to the most important national and international standards. The Top Management, with the implementation of the Safety Management System, would like to preserve, consolidate and develop its core business. The achievement of this target goes through the commitment of the management together with workers, studying and designing of more advanced operations in order to achieve product excellence, respecting the health and safety of workers. The Company is going to promote and support every effort that, through better and more careful process management, has as its purpose the prevention of accidents, occupational diseases and achieving the best safety performance ever. In particular, the Company aims to:
- prevent accidents and occupational diseases;
- observe all applicable laws and regulations, national and international, in order to minimize any negative effect connected to the operations and activities carried out daily;
- educate, train and sensitize staff to the respect of safety rules, developing a culture and practice of behavior based on the protection of personal health;
- provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and the surrounding community.

The Company has identified two main points on which to base the security organization:
- the management of safety and health of workers at work;
- emergency management.
The safety and health at work is constantly being implemented through:
- continuous improvement, based on training and information of staff; analysis and study of accidents and missed ones based on reports of risks and meetings of the SPP; during meetings it carries out an assessment of risks, of actions to be taken and of DPI to distribute to workers.
- analysis of the new elements to be adopted, such as new equipment or new hires.
Everyone should ensure the propagation of the company's determination to pursue above mentioned targets, monitor the implementation of procedures and compliance with the specifications, that map the way to achieve the company’s purpose. The Top Management is aware of the social responsibility and believes that the fulfilment of the above stated steps goes through ensuring the availability of resources, financial means and knowledge necessary for the development and business growth, for the proper functioning of the Health and Safety Management System. The management agrees to review the status of achievement of objectives and the adequacy of the company's policy organization periodically.

ACCESS CONTROL

VISITORS AND COMPANIES CONTRACTORS

The entrance to the Plant takes place by presenting at the Reception for recording attendance. Then the Authorized Person of Officine Tecnosider will see to the external personnel in the areas they intend to visit or work, provided with appropriate personal protective equipment (helmet, safety shoes, high visibility vest). External visitors will have to make the vision of information security and comply with the instructions of prevention and protection.

DRIVERS AND COURIERS

The entry of Hauliers or couriers plant occurs in Office Shipping / Receiving Materials, where officers will provide external staff with all necessary information about routes of traffic for business activities of loading / unloading of goods or waste. External personnel will have to make the vision of information security and comply with the instructions of prevention and protection.

Environment

Environmental Policy

We manage our business activities in an environmentally responsible manner and with due regard to our neighbors, employees, customers and the community in which we operate.
Responsibility
Officine Tecnosider considers the management of our environmental impact as fundamental part of our business strategy. We engage to maintain an approach to minimize its impact on the environment. We promote the efficient use of materials, energy and water. Wherever possible, we aim to minimize waste.
Practical measures to help the environment:
- Water recycling: our plant is able to recycle 98% of cooling water. This has been achieved through the installation of an innovative waste water plant.
- Water saving: the implementation of a successful waste water recycling plant, have reduced the amount of water extracted from ground well. The specific consumption is below of 250 liters per ton product.

LEED SYSTEM - OFFICINE TECNOSIDER CONTRIBUTION

Sustainability is an issue that has become more and more present and where the trend is increasing. Officine Tecnosider has analyzed and implemented the contributions of its product in terms of sustainability. The reference used is the international rating system LEED™, for which has analyzed and positioned its products and supplies, implemented a information management level necessary to reconcile speed and accuracy in providing information.
